Learn how to Paint Portraits with Confidence with Jane Mudd. Through instructor presentations, demos, and one on one instruction, students will gain the skills and confidence necessary to tackle the portrait with oils! Along with learning the importance of proportion, and working general to specific, students will explore value/color relationships, and the power of both color and brushstroke. Students will also investigate techniques of several famous artists and the art of working directly from models. We will also spend two sessions on working from photos and discover how to make them more lifelike.

All sessions: Brown bag lunch 12-12:30. Class critique 2:30 -3pm.

About Jane Mudd

For the past 40 years I have resided on a farm east of Fulton, Missouri, where my husband Tom and I raised three children, built a home and supported each other’s passions and careers.  Last May I retired from William Woods University where I taught Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Art History and Senior Practicum. I have had many solo shows throughout mid-Missouri and have won numerous awards in juried exhibits and competitions. Between William Woods and Orr Street Studios (15year member) in Columbia MO, I have curated and hung over one hundred exhibitions. I have also adjudicated numerous exhibits, plein air events and festivals throughout Missouri. My professional portrait experience dates back to the 1970's.
