Though later trained as an engineer\, he knew that pursuing art was his true passion. \nHis work reflects the beauty found in the breathtaking views of nature as well as in the small\, mundane things. His paintings consist primarily of landscapes\, portraits\, still lifes and urban depictions. \nHe views nature as a reflection of God’s character\, so he has a deep connection with the great outdoors. When Gino is not working in his studio\, he can be found painting on location en plein air where he makes small studies for larger pieces. \nHis work adorns the walls of private and public collections around the world\, such as Baltusrol Country Club in Springfield\, NJ and Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. \nemail:  gino@ginosantamaria.com \nhttps://www.ginosantamaria.com \nHow to Interpret the Landscape \nWith Gino Santa Maria \nSuggested Materials list Oils for Limited Palette \nTitanium white \nCadmium Yellow Medium (Primary) \nCadmium Red Medium (Primary) \nUltramarine Blue (Primary) \nOils for expanded Limited Palette \nTitanium white \nCadmium Yellow Medium (Primary warm) \nCadmium Yellow Light (Primary cool) \nCadmium Red Medium (Primary warm) \nAlizarin Crimson (Primary cool) \nUltramarine Blue (Primary warm) \nCobalt Blue (Primary cool) \nViridian Green (Bending color) \nIvory black (Bending color) \nBrushes for oil sizes from 2-8 \nI use Rosemary Classic Long Flats brushes\, but any you like is fine. \nSolvent: I use Gamsol for the underpainting\, then add Walnut Alkyd Medium\, or Neo Megilp from Gamblin to finish.
