The Heartland Art Club is mourning the loss of one of our founding members. Dawn was an accomplished artist; she worked in pencil and oil. During her art career she received multiple awards. She loved the outdoors and plein air painting. She was the loving wife of Tom Arens. She is survived by Tom, and many family members. Dawn did not want a memorial service. She will be missed by her art friends, colleagues, and all who knew her.
“I’m so grateful to my collectors and to my art friends. I hope my work will give you a sense of the beauty I see in life and will uplift you and calm you as you go through your days. “
Our friendship began with our art a few years back. She was a kind person to everyone she ran into. She had a fire about her that not many people knew about though. A fire, temper, whatever you want to call it. I used to tease her about it and kid her by saying everyone thinks you are so sweet. She was sweet so don’t get me wrong. She would say it takes one to know one. We would laugh about it. She had that fire. We all do, The fire to create and no one should get in our way of that. Anyway, we were painting buddies. We could seriously go out and paint and help each other. I loved her.
She will be missed by all.
