This workshop is designed for beginning and advanced artists who want to better understand linear perspective. The instructor will explain linear perspective and demonstrate theory or one and two point perspective. General discussion will include atmospheric perspective and the illusion of depth on two dimensional art. The participants will sketch from scenes provided and the instructor will coach and review.
Artists will develop skills and techniques by sketching scenes with a sketch pad and pencils.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Born and raised in central Illinois, Morris has been drawing and painting since his elementary school days, assisting his teachers as the “classroom artist”. In high school he was interested in architectural drafting and drawing and spent every spare moment in the drafting room. After high school he worked as a drafter for a truck body company in Carlinville, Illinois before attending college.
In college he majored in Architectural Technology and Education. He earned an Associate in Technology degree specializing in Architecture and a Master of Science in Education degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
While in college he worked for an architect in Carbondale, Illinois (Hans Fischer). And after earning his masters degree he accepted a position teaching Architectural Technology at Saint Louis Community College. While at SLCC he studied fine arts including drawing, photography, charcoal, and painting. He taught on the Meramec campus, full and part time, for more than 35 years and retired as Professor Emeritus.
His paintings have been exhibited at major galleries in the St. Louis area and he has been teaching oil painting at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild since 2016 and practicing architecture since 1980. He also taught oil painting at Stone Soup Galleries from 2018 to 2022 where he acted as the Coordinator of Education.
